Due to the shelter being closed all weekend and the deicision to kill all the innocent dogs on Monday morning, this decision means a definite death sentence to all of these animals. The shelter is closed on the weekends... how can an out-of-state rescue or anyone wanting to adopt the dogs even get in touch with shelter employees before Monday to save the nine dogs now marked as Code Red? It is unfair to punish all the dogs for the action of just a couple. Newest update (Monday 4:12pm) The shelter went ahead and killed 5 dogs today. We are pleading that the Mayor and City Council either (1) IMMEDIATELY ALLOW STATE AND LOCAL RESCUES TO PULL DOGS or (2) PUT A HOLD ON ALL EUTHANASIA AND INTAKES UNTIL HIS INVESTIGATION OF ANIMAL CONTROL IS COMPLETE. We are now also asking the the Mayor and any other decision-makers in this case be invvestigated for their actions and decisions to kill all of the dogs, simply because many came from the same home. We would like to see the Mayor removed from office. There is absolutely no reason to kill innocent dogs and the decision to do this in itself is cruel and should be considered animal cruelty in of itself.
