climate change, makes you a little nervous doesnt it. thinking weve started something that we cant stop. that will effect the entire planet. soon there will be another test for mankind. we invented the first global changer. the atom bomb. change the planet that way or sit back and let mother nature take over. when it comes to wrecking the world weve have gotten to that point. from the first life having to depend on its surroundings and environment, weve come all the way to the surroundings and the environment having to depend on us. is it the beginning of the end for mankind as we know it? there are different ways we could effect that. the old pandemic of disease but that is less likely now with good medicine. but many could still go with something like that. population growth? the united states, great britain and the west have gone to a negative growth at the moment but the rest of the world hasnt. china instituted her one child policy in the 1980s or so because their population was growing at the rate of one million per week. we gone from 3 billion at my birth in 1947 to nearly 7 billion today. the old coin doubled every day. 2, 4,8 pennies then a million. not exactly like that but you get my meaning. the more people you have the more people you are going to have and faster than today but not as fast as tomorrow. we polluted the water over the last half of the last century. we stopped the major pollution but we can never stop it all. its been a long time since someone has safely taken a drink of water out of a stream or river. the atmosphere took a little longer. it is much bigger. it is vast but not infinite. over the last 150 years we have been polluting the air with everything we could make. using anything we could find. and we found everything. we have been pouring trillions upon trillions upon trillions of tons of carbon monoxide alone and we have no intention of stopping. as jrr tolkien wrote in the return of the king, he has treebeard saying loudly...it is easier to yell stop than to do it. so, there you are. the gloomy look for the race. one way or another we will have to face the changes. whatever is good for the species, life will correct itself or go extinct. 99% of all life on earth has gone extinct. why not us? the easiest way is to become too specialized. if a species of animal become dependent on one thing for survival like a particular kind of shrub and the shrub dies out so will the animal. have we become too dependent on electricity? dumb question. if it dies out so will we. so there you have it. our gloomy look ahead. but thats the way life is. it doesnt care. can we as human animals fix it? i doubt it. we will proclaim that we can do such a thing if only we do this, this and this but we wont. its like lewis black, the comedian, said. as long as there is a drop of oil left in the ground we will use it. now that i have made your day. enjoy.
