BUSH WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE NEAR IRAQ THAT IS UNDER HEAVY ATTACK BY TERRORISTS-JIHADISTS US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has ordered a nuclear-powered American aircraft carrier — the USS George H.W. Bush — to reposition from the northern Arabian Sea to the Persian Gulf as President Barack Obama considers possible military options for Iraq. According to Rear Adm. John Kirby, the order gives the US president added flexibility if military action is required to protect American lives, citizens and interests in Iraq. Accompanying the carrier will be the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea and the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun. The ships are expected to be in position by late Saturday, Eastern Time. The combat ships carry Tomahawk missiles, which can reach Iraq. The nuclear-powered USS George Bush is carrying US fighter jets that can quickly get to Iraq, where escalating Islamic insurgency is gaining territories.
