And it is precisely this material that may cut the costs of Vale’s iron ore pellets while increasing their added value. Using the fibre of green coconut shells, we are developing a new kind of binder, a fundamental raw material for pellet production. The new technology is in the advanced testing phase, with technical collaboration from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES)’s Biotech Laboratory.
