#corsicanaisd Sale of CISD Administration Building to Proceed The Corsicana Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees voted to approve the execution of the commercial real estate contract to sell the CISD Administration Building to Navarro County. The contract, worth $350,000, will allow CISD administration to consolidate under one roof at the Lee Center. “Opportunity and timing play a key role in making this a positive move for both CISD and Navarro County,” said Dr. Diane Frost, Superintendent. “The Trustees have been interested in consolidating the administration under one roof to save on utilities, maintenance, and upkeep. When the County needed more office space due to the Courthouse remodeling, the timing of the Administration Building relocation appeared appropriate and relevant. “ The sale of the CISD property includes the Administration Building, old Stephen F. Austin schoolhouse, and two warehouses located in Block 318. The Lee Campus, located at 2200 W. 4th Avenue, has been home to CISD Technology, a satellite office for Region 12 training, and the offices of the CISD Curriculum and Special Education departments. “With some creative planning, we will be able to maximize the space and occupancy of the historic Lee campus, with renovations to Lee costing significantly less than the sale price,” said Frost. Departments located in the the Lee Center will include: Human Resources, Communications, Business Office, Corsicana Education Foundation, Student Discipline, the Superintendent’s Office, Maintenance and Operations, and the CISD Board Meeting Room, will join the existing offices of Technology, satellite Region 12 office, CISD Curriculum and Special Education. The Lee Center will officially be called the “Lee Education Center” once the move is complete. An open house will be announced later to coincide with a Board Meeting once the transition has been made as the Lee Education Center. “This is an opportunity for two important community entities to continue to provide services to constituents in a convenient and cost-effective manner,” said Frost. “I am glad we can work together.” CISD is expected to move once school is over after June 6.
