couples in love ------------ speeding down the coastal highway the sun looms purple-orange and heavy above our heads trapped uncertainly between ascent and descent oh, how we laugh because even the hottest fires freeze sometimes but you and me still know how to have fun with each other, if nobody else, as our purest selves nothing hidden underneath the sun or in the deepest darkest corners, between the sheets - weve felt each others hearts beat. baring the truth doesnt make it easy to bear but it makes it easier, to talk about, and tears will thaw a fire and laughter will warm a chill each of us burns far brighter than we could have ever known and we know so much more than we did about the world about ourselves if only time would stop id bask in the afterglow, for a little while longer but the engine keeps running, propelling us down that coastal road, together - at least, at most, we hope - well keep on sparkling, smiling, crying and touching each other until ... as for the sun well, who knows where shes going - east or west, up or down? the sun wont reveal anything about herself, shell only blind you with her bright silence, just like the silver stoicism of the moon to your hoarse moans. you can hunch over the cards looking for answers, or kneel before the cross and pray for guidance, or you can howl at the moon, or stare into the sun - but we can tell a love story of our own and well find the words together, under the covers with a flashlight.
