crh.noaa.gov/wxstory.php?site=lot Violent severe weather is possible this afternoon and evening. Have a way to receive warnings and take all warnings seriously. Initial thunderstorm development this afternoon into northwest and north central Illinois could be in the form of tornadic supercells, some potentially producing significant tornadoes. Some storms may also produce very large hail in excess of 2" in diameter. The violent weather threat will then likely transition to a widespread damaging wind event by this evening. Flash flooding is also a big concern across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana north of a Sterling to Valparaiso line, with 2-3" (locally higher) amounts in a short period of time.
