daily slog: lately ive been observing many cases of friendship in hiatus - misunderstandings, assumptions, accusations, miscommunications, or no communication based on made-up stories that play in peoples heads. i say that because if you think about it, there is no way to be 100% sure of anything in this world. and what part of our story is simply made up in our heads? ALL of it. we create stories/thoughts in our heads, then create evidence based on those thoughts, have feelings about it, and start assigning cravings and aversions. in other words, all of our experiences are merely our own creation. the choice of our perception is the story that gets written. when we believe that something awful has come to pass, is it possible we could be mistaken in our thoughts and perceptions about what happened, or what someone intended when they did/say/behave in the way as we perceived? or is there a good reason for giving it the benefit of doubt? is it possible to rewrite the story, create the choice perception that brings us peace? it is my belief that in so doing, we stretch out of our comfort zone, creating the possibility for growth in relationship with one another. life brings many humbling moments. humility in friendship is not overrated, i think. what about you?
