danceforparkinsonsaustralia.org Teacher Training Workshop For more information contact [email protected] or 0412 260 040 The Dance for PD® program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group, is built on one fundamental premise: professionally-trained dancers are movement experts whose knowledge is useful to persons with PD. Dancers know all about stretching and strengthening muscles, and about balance and rhythm. Most importantly, dancers know how to use their thoughts, imagination, eyes, ears and touch to control their movements. Classes modeled after Dance for PD® now occur in more than 100 communities in the US, Canada, UK, Germany and Australia. All of our workshops are facilitated by Dance for PD program teachers, and attendees receive a comprehensive spectrum of practical information and approaches supplemented by post-workshop continuing education opportunities through advanced professional development workshops and our online membership program. This training program helps trained dancers and dance instructors adapt their expertise to work effectively and comfortably with the Parkinson’s population under the guidelines and methodology of the Dance for PD® program.
