dear Government of Jamaica, With the recent issue of funding for tertiary education being an issue,i think what should be done is to utilize the services of these students by having them become interns in the sector they study with the time they so intern being recorded and add as credit to their loan amount hereby reducing the loan amount. How would this work? By having these students intern, you allow the student to (1) get the much needed experience. (2) move what ever back lag that specific sector is having and (3) the labor they provide as stated before, would be in the aid of nation building, the same nation that provides the loan for the education. All second to final year students would be mandated to work as interns as long as they have a Government loan no less than 400 hours, failure to do so would mean an additional 10% interest on the loan. Medical students -to include nurses and doctors, pharmacist and medical researchers would be mandated to offer their services at every public health facility. agriculture students would work directly with rada, all Government roads, bridges, buildings or any infrastructure would include all build tech students and engineers,Student Teachers would have to work in evening home work and literacy institutes set up in community centres,All law students would be mandated to work in all courts and police stations as clerical aid and finally all business and finance students would work along with the ministry of agriculture to find solutions to selling agricultural products. utilize the students let them work and reduce the debt while we grow the nation.
