did you know that? Album Art Direction: Donald Nancy and Mark Ryden Cover design: Mark Ryden The creator of the cover of Dangerous was the artist Mark Ryden. It took six months to culminate it. Much of the life of Michael Jackson is reflected in both her images and symbols. This artist was born on January 20, 1963, in Medford, Oregon, California. In 1987 he was received at the School of Design in Pasadena. Among its clients include Stephen King, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, etc ... Michael Ryden hired because this is a fan of circus posters from early last century and had the mentality to interpret the images they wanted Jackson on the cover. Account cartoonist Michael asked very specific things, and I did own analogies to give these symbols ... Michael told me that the design should be mysterious, so people will interpret in their own way 1 - The name Michael Jackson over his eyes gives way to a huge theatrical mask that seems to want to cover everything. From that center dominates the scene perfectly. Eyes and perfect eyebrows, with a small tuft of hair falling from his forehead and a dark skin, make the ornament of an attack of domination. 2 - On a fairy head of a monkey about to be crowned appears. It is his chimp Bubbles who died in 1989. It is noteworthy that all the work environment is practically covered by animals. 3 - Right in the center appear grouped various animals: a peacock, faithful accounting of glamor and gorgeous as is often the entertainment world, an elephant with a number 9 on the front (and this number next to 7 the highlights in numerology), a rhinoceros, a walrus, 4 - On each side of Michaels eyes appear two faces of clowns with bonnets. Both represent the circus theater but also because they are in classic view of theatrical performance, one crying and one laughing. 5 - Two musical cherubs appear on both sides of a star of good luck, announcing the sound and music. 6 - A prehistoric man, perhaps a warrior tribe (seniority is an obsession of Michael Jackson). In his hands accompanies this great concert with two pans. 7 - more angels this time an angel child and smaller within a few fish in the style of carousels or live guys appear on the left side of the image,. 8 - An entry in a ghost train or labyrinth of terror. On board the cars are again the Bear Bubbles, a rat can be Ben a Antipole and an elephant. This entrance is flanked by a classic pirate symbol denoting evil but turn the adventure, so present in these passages. 9 - On the left is a hand half open, which is Michael Jackson because on three fingertips classic bandaids appear. On his palm appears standing boy holding a black skull Elephant Man, whose remains wanted to buy but failed. On that Palm appears drawn a world map depicting the presence of Michael Jackson as a star around the globe. On the wrist number 7, which as we had said next to 9 are special numbers in numerology appears. 10 - In the lower center of the scene a kind of galactic belt surrounding a world upside down, having in his apartment a lot of symbols representing hazards as caravels and pistols, technological advances such as rockets and mysteries of science appears like atoms and particles chains. 11 - Here the image of Barnum, creator of the most famous circuses in the world, appears to be an explicit homage to this very circus cover. The bust is on the flap of the bag a pin number 1998 and if we add 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 the result is 27 (the number seven favorable numerology) and adding 2 + 7 gives 9 (the other number positive). 12 - The output of this corridor or ghost train since the end of the story everything has changed. Bubbles disappeared and instead sits Michael but with his image of child star, behind him the skeleton of the elephant man (whom we spoke) behind his friend happy Macaulay Culkin and closing the Antipole row ends up being another skeleton. 13 - A Greek eye appears on the upper facade out of the maze. It is a symbol of caring God who sees everything. 14 - Michael big fan of the masters of world painting has added two classic scenes one inside a glass sphere and the other on one of the pillars of the dog Afghan king explained below. 15 - In the middle of the picture on the right side of the Afghan hound image appears on your throne. The image is inspired by the painting called Napoleon on His Throne painted by artist Jean-Auguste Ingres in 1806. The painting is hosted in Paris at the Army Museum where Napoleons tomb is also located. 16 - There are two other figures that are part of the Dangerous cover that are included in the three-dimensional version of luxury, it is a two-legged dog and a girl full body holding in his arms a huge green beetle. Undoubtedly the cover of Dangerous with the cover design of Sergeant Pepper by The Beatles are the two covers most performed in the history of music. THE STORY TOLD BY THE ARTIST MARK RYDEN Account Mark Ryden, cartoonist cover of Dangerous who had worked with the Art Director for Sony, Nancy Donald in many other projects and when he undertook the project of Michael Jackson she thought of him. A Michael Jackson showed him a book with his work and liked a lot. It was so Ryden met with the King of Pop in his studio where he could hear some new music and talked about the idea. Since then I had a week to create some strokes, doing 5 pencil drawings. Only one was elected, the outline of the current cap. The other four sketches that were not accepted by Michael Jackson, but had the same general style as the cover of Dangerous. One was a circus poster with a skeleton jumping from the innards of a clown; another was focused on a girl in his hand he held a skull, another idea was very similar to the final cover, but the scene was set outdoors and the eyes of Michael Jackson mingled with clouds on Bubbles chimpanzee who was standing on a pile of animals. Mark Ryden Also note that for the first sketches of the cover of Dangerous drew heavily on the video for the song Leave Me Alone found in the film Moonwalker saying that it was the image, design and objects were great. The cover of Dangerous was the biggest project Mark Ryden asked to date which sued six months of hard work. Although the original painting is very large, the great challenge of cartoonist was that reduce the size of a cover of a compact disc detail and the concept does not disappear. One of his points of inspiration for many details was listening to the albums songs as Michael Jackson was finishing his recording and song titles also served him to introduce certain concepts. So it was that the title of the album and the song Dangerous provided a starting point for the base of the drawing. Mark Ryden says that despite the great advances in digital technology, the picture is not supported by computers and nothing is done the old way, only brush with acrylic paint on panel, original which still maintains in his study without he was asked by Michael Jackson or the art division of Sony Music, as the latter only bought the copyright. Ensures the artist than anyone could acquire you the original drawing. As for the freedom to create his work, Ryden had the opportunity to draw without pressure, except for some very specific additions that Michael Jackson asked himself near the end of the work. For example, I wanted the actor Macaulay Culkin was in one of the cars Attraction leaving the tunnel on the right and the pin 1998 on the lapel of P. Barnum being placed. Displays the original Dangerous by Mark Ryden with his other works inter alia RYDEN INTERVIEW WITH MARK ON COVER ART OF DANGEROUS - How was the process so that you were chosen as the creator of the cover of the album Dangerous? Did you know Michael before this work? He had worked with the Art Director at Sony Music (Nancy Donald) in many other projects and when he commissioned the project Michael Jackson thought of me. They taught Michael a folder with my work and liked a lot. Then I met with him in his studio where I could listen to some new music and talked about the idea. Since then I had a week to create some ideas. May I elaborate pencil drawings and taught them to Michael. Only one was chosen by everyone including Michael and this is the one I painted Then there were 5 pre covers for Dangerous? Can you tell us how were the others? They all had the same style in general than I did. A concept was more like a circus poster with a skeleton jumping into the gut of a clown. Another sketch was more focused on the girl who is standing on the hand holding a skull that appears in the final version. One idea was similar to the final choice except that whole scene was day, outdoors and Michaels eyes floating in the clouds on Bubbles standing on a pile of animals. Would you consider yourself a fan of Michael Jackson? Like his music? Yes, I like his music. The album that I like is Bad. I really like the same things as Michael. The video for Leave me Alone blew my mind the first time I saw him. It inspired me a lot. How inspired you? Was the message that gave the video of Michael overwhelmed by the press or was the image of the video? It was for the image. The design and objects were great. There are many similarities between the video for Leave Me Alone and the cover of Dangerous. Were you influenced this video on your work on the cover of Dangerous? Definitely. Dangerous is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in terms of album art work. How long did it take to complete the project from start to finish? It was by far my most ambitious work. The original was very large (for me), three square feet. It took me many months to finish the project including sketches and everything. Would you say that this is one of your most ambitious because it was for Michael, the man you say you are overwhelmed with perfectionism and trying to overcome their own success? Have you spent the same to you? I also tried to overcome my own perfectionism. Several months working on an album cover seems a long time, looking at the picture I can not imagine doing all that time. Is one of the album covers most time you have taken? Ive never spent so much time doing a cover. The main problem is that if you get no move all the small format of the CD has not been worth the effort. I was aware of this when making the cover of MJ, but do not let that curb me. Was the whole album before you finished the cover or you worked on the cover while Michael was recording the album? Michael was working on the album while I painted. I got to hear of the disk ahead of time and got many of the song titles. Are some of the song titles shown in the drawing? If you look at it can find them. If the album was not complete when you started working, did you have the name of the album and if you had, you inspired the name for your work? Yes, the name was one of the things that was decided. This provided a starting point for the concept. If the album was complete before you started with the cover, Were you inspired music when you worked on it? Yes, it was part of the inspiration. If you had to put a name to this drawing, how do you call it? Hummmmmmmm. He would have to think about it. Normally I have to spend a lot of time thinking about the titles of my drawings. From the point of view of the creator, do you think you could call this picture Dangerous? Sure, thats how it started and what fits. Is there anything in this particular project handmade parts, or parts you generated computer? No computers. Just a good old-fashioned drawing. Many, many days drawing. Thats just amazing. The detail in this painting definitely shows hours. Remember how you prepare mentally before you begin painting or sketching? How did you start working on a drawing as elaborate? I was younger, more energetic, and enthusiastic about the project. Can you tell us what technique you used for the drawing? Acrylic on wood Was there something special that you used in the drawing? Any special effect soles not use? Not really. Where is the original? What is Michael? I still have the original. Have all original covers you do? Do you have plans to sell this picture? If you do not normally keep the originals preserved Why this? The record company just bought the copyrights or other but they can buy the original, but it is priced separately. Did Michael a role in designing the cover of Dangerous and what he did? Michael was open enough to let me work. He made some specific additions to the drawing when completed For real? Can you tell us which added? He wanted his friend Macaulay was in one of the cars of attraction in the lower right corner. I wanted to put the pin 1998 to the jacket PT Barnum. The half black half white child was something that Michael also wanted to add. There are some other things too. Can you tell us which represents the drawing and its various symbols? For example: Who is the man in the suit and why has the 1998? What does the park? Who is the Chief Steward on Man costume and why has a 7 in the hat? Who is represented by a bust half white and half black, and what it means? What about animals? Why is there a dog and a bird represented as a king and queen? What does the MJ on the crown of the dog? What does the Birth of Venus in this picture? Well, those are questions Im sure youre anxious to know his explanation. I think if a drawing is explained, loses something for which observes. I like the feeling of mystery about the symbolism and do not want to miss. It is an important part of the picture for me. Im more interested in how he plays the rest of the people themselves. There is definitely a sense of mystery in the symbolism! I understand you do not want to miss the interpretation of the painting. Can you give fans some idea of what you were thinking when you did? Give them some sense the direction of the meaning ... I fear that already has its own address (sorry) The whole picture is extremely impressive, but what makes it unique is the eyes. How did you decide to use Michaels eyes? This was part of the original concept decided by Michael and Art Director. With that is what I started. How long did it take you to draw those eyes? They are very real, Did you use a photo of Michael to make or Michael posed for it? She had many pictures of Michael to do so. If prompted, Would you consider doing another album cover for Michael? Definitely. Have you been required by other artists or representatives of artists because the cover of Dangerous? Well, in that sense the album has been a problem. Other bands do not want an album resembles something already out there, so I usually have to hide the fact that I did How did you get involved with performing CD covers? I had a very good portfolio of work in general when I graduated from the Art Center. I did a cover of the album that became very visible (Warrants Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich ) Other record companies began to contact me and it just grew from there.
