didnt know if any of you saw this post ... Great news for archery fans! https://vimeo/ondemand/archery Mike Loades film “Archery – Its History and Forms” is NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD via Vimeo On-Demand. Mike says- It costs just $2.99. The duration is 7I minutes. It is a bargain! It is very easy to download onto your computer. You have to join Vimeo but all they ask is your name and e-mail address. It is really that simple and you pay with a single click via your PayPal account. I made this film back in 1995 (slightly more hair and no grey) and it is a gentler, more traditional style of documentary celebrating many of the different ways the bow has been used. There is field archery, target archery, roving, clout, and popinjay. There is kyudo and Turkish flight archery; there are longbows, crossbows, composite bows and the story of modern high tech tackle. There are scenes of flint-knapping, medieval arrowhead forging, fletching and sequences showing the making of a longbow and the making of a composite bow. It is the story of the bow for hunting, recreation and war. Since making this film a lot has changed with regard to our understanding of medieval longbows for war. This film is not up-to-date with that thinking (my current views are fully expressed in my recent book The Longbow). However if the viewer will forgive these slight differences of opinion - they represent a tiny fraction of the film – there is a great deal more in the film that is timeless. It is intended that this film is available for download anywhere in the world that Vimeo is accessible. if it is a success, it may enable me into making more films for direct sale online. This is an experiment to test the water - so well see.
