disappointing start to the season boys. plenty of room for improvement. great to see that the effort was there from everyone. i think if we all fix up a few basic errors we will start seeing the results on the scoreboard. Lisburn Street started the morning in a winning fashion that would carry on throughout the day. After winning the toss they elected to bat. This didnt seem to be a bad toss to lose as there looked to be plenty of juice in the deck. Things started almost perfectly for the Cicadas as spearhead Aaron Boyle started the day with a wicket maiden in his very first over; however this would prove to be the highlight of his day as he bowled to short to often and the batsman pounced. 1/38 Stepping up to take the other end was young paceman Adam Prendergast. Signs werent good with his first delivery being a wide; however he proved that he could mix it with the big boys gong on to bowl extremely well without reward. 0/21 Another exciting young prospect in Marley Helliwell took over from the southern end, his inexperience didnt seem to phase him as the medium pacer tied the batsman down aside from the odd short ball later in his spell which was duly dispatched. 0/24 Left armer Jack Connew was the next bowler looking to prove his worth. He bowled well in patches with a couple of key wickets along with a few half chances that didnt go his way, however wayward bowling saw the sundries column skyrocket. 2/52 Part-Timer and genuine wicket taking machine Gavin Scott-Buchanan was thrown the ball just before the first drinks break. As weve seen time and again there were plenty of chances but none seemed to go his way. 0/20 After the drinks break the runs were flowing and experience was required. Jason Black was more than up to the challenge. He unleashed one of the best spells of swing bowling seen in recent times, wickets began to tumble and the Cicadas were right back in it. 3/29 Bowling in tandem with Black at the death was seamer Graeme Bennett. the pressure didnt seem to worry him as he delivered the best bowling performance of his short career nabbing 2 poles. 2/23. The change of innings saw a lot of optimism from both sides as they were both still firmly in the game. Coming off the back of his outstanding bowling JB strode to the crease alongside the young but experienced campaigner Ryan Boyle. JB began his innings with his usual flare collecting runs at a nice rate. however one mistimed pullshot was all it took to bring an end to his innings. 14 runs. This brought Jack peanuts Connew to the crease. Peanuts found it hard to get going and was eventually out LBW after a dubious umpiring decision. 1 run. Aaron Boyle was the next man in in the unfamiliar spot of no4. He went out looking to silence the critics and appeared to be doing so after some beautiful strokeplay early on. Although it didnt last long as he soon fell playing across the line in a scene that is all to familiar. 9 runs. Skipper Chris Kajewski was next in and immediately looked to stop the rot. Sending balls to the boundary at will. Patience was his downfall after he went for one to many and was bowled. 18 runs. Coming in at 6 was the ever reliable Tom Tucker. he looked to be in great form with the ball flying off his bat. however the change of pace didnt agree with him and he soon joined his team mates back in the dugout. 11 runs. Ryan Boyle was the mainstay throughout the majority of the innings, proving that patience was the key on this wicket. he accumulated runs all throughout his time in the middle and looked certain to go on with it before a clever bowling change saw him caught. 19 runs. The two quick wickets saw two new batsman at the crease. Graeme Bennett and Marley Helliwell both looked to steady the ship, however it was all to much for the youngster as he fell for just 1 run. Gav S-B was the next man to the wicket and he looked to unleash his unorthodix style on the LS bowlers. But it was not to be as he fell for a duck. 0 runs. Opening bowler Adam Prendergast waltzed to the crease at no10. Frustrating the fielding side with his defensive technique. Adz and Benj managed to stay together for a couple of overs before Graeme was eventually dismissed. 3 runs. The last hope for the Cicadas was Chris bambi Land. things were going well after bambi began punishing the LS bowlers. In the end it was all to much for the boys after Adz was dismissed for 3 runs. Leaving Landy stranded on 8*.
