doodletherapymoore I thought you might like to know the current stage of the flowers/pink painting displayed in my studio picture. Focusing on the flowers alone, there are 58. To complete the 1st stage of base white paint it has taken approx 109 hrs not including breaks etc. That has been spread over many weeks, and due to my ill health I may take 2 days just to complete one flower, this painting has been on the go for at least 10 months! The reason for the time is the effect I go for, a sort of stipple effect, like dabbing but also dragging the paint outwards. Each small flower took 1hrs 30 mins approx. Each of the flowers in the middle took 2hrs approx, the top large ones have taken at least 2hrs 30+ mins each approx. I have enclosed the pictures displaying the size of the tiny brushes to get the stipple effect. The pictures show the depth of paint after drying by 1/3rd !, so you can imagine the initial application of paint/depth prior to drying, the picture shows the dried state. This is all before the various colours that I am going to apply to each flower-stage 2 at a later date and who knows how long that will take. I wont tell you currently how long its going to take to complete the sea, as it has a special effect to be applied that I did start but drove me crazy due to its miniature content, but these details are what make a painting worthwhile…I hope. I just thought you might find this update of interest.
