during out last session I went over the importance of CQC with Steven Matos....aka Fighting in a Phone Booth. I had to learn the importance of this; Im nearly 64 with a reach to match and long legs...the keep out game is my best asset...which means ANY good fighter facing me is going to seek to neutralize the distance and take away my advantage. So almost 15 years ago i switched things up and learned to fight good at close range. It and the ground are now my two fav places to fight, Right In Yo Face! Ive adapted my Savate and Wing Chun to a true bully style, my Hung Gar, Muay Thai and trapping styles once in close, and my grappling when we are down. Its messy but its real life training. So when I train people I have them practice strikes and blocks at all ranges and angles, punching from your pocket, covering ground quickly on the assault, attacking while retreating, etc. Keep your style varied and prepare for EVERYTHING There is no best style.....just the best way to remain alive. https://youtube/watch?v=Sx63kygF1cs
