dōTERRA has finally released the full clip about the sourcing of their amazing Vetiver oil! I cant recommend this video highly enough - I challenge you to watch it without being emotionally touched by it! Heres what I wrote about the sourcing of dōTERRAs Vetiver oil after learning so much about it at the Global Convention in November... Dr Hill talked today about dōTERRAs Vetiver oil which they source from Haiti. By the end of this topic there was not a dry eye in the house, including his own. Vetiver oil is produced from the root of Vetiver grass. This community in Haiti had been growing Vetiver grass and supplying it to other industries (e.g. perfume industry) for a long time but the farmers were still very poor and unable to afford basic necessities. This was partly because of the low prices they were paid but also because once they harvested each crop, they had to wait six months before the plants were ready to be harvested again and they were only paid at harvest time. The quality of the Vetiver oil produced from such young Vetiver grass is also not optimal. For optimal quality (and therapeutic benefits), Vetiver needs to grow for 18-24 months before the roots are harvested to produce the oil. dōTERRA now pays these farmers a fair price for their Vetiver root every single month of the year, and in return the farmers allow the Vetiver grass to grow for 18-24 months before harvesting it. So not only have the lives of the farmers and their community improved dramatically, but the quality of the Vetiver oil is quite literally the best in the world! And heres where the tears started to flow for everyone...this community had no access to running water or even to clean water. The people had to walk three hours every day to access dirty water. dōTERRA has given everyone in this community access to clean, running water with the installation of a well and water pipeline.
