en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebola_virus_disease Is it just me or is anyone else at all concerned in the least with the two infected Ebola patients that have been brought into this country from Liberia? Scientists and Doctors know very little about the highly experimental drug that is being administered to them. They know very little about the long-term prognoses or effects of the Ebola virus and does anyone really know just how contagious it is? Now at Emory Medical Center, the 2nd patient is delivered and all of the hazmat suits and precautions are being met, but what is the possible margin of error here? Suits are not 100% sealed. When removed, they contain perspiration residue or hundreds, if not thousands of sloughed off skin cells. The suits will either be destroyed as most bio hazardous waste is, but are they expecting John and Jane Q Public to believe there is no residual? Somewhere there is always a high risk. My question is why not isolate them in Africa? With the money spent transporting them here and all of the ifs still unknown why risk the health of so many additional people? I am all for research and experimental testing, but this is an unknown virus and very easily could turn into an accidental epidemic. Perhaps I am hyper-sensitive to unknown viruses because two years ago, I knew very little of Super Bugs and how things that can wreak havoc in our bodies. Being fairly well read, I had NO idea that microscopic bacteria, invisible to the human eye, would enter my body, invade it and nearly kill me. I paid a dear price, for hanging tough and thinking I was just fighting a bad flu! I am STILL suffering from the destruction done to my body. Unbeknownst to me, the same bacteria that entered my open wounds festered in me and lead to a blood poisoning septicemia and literally resulted in five areas being destroyed in a cellular cannibalism of sorts. Flesh eating bacteria is real! I am quite sure the Ebola virus is very real to the families who lost loved ones to it! Have any of you read about this Virus and that there is no known cure? What exactly are we risking in Georgia at this time? Worse still, how many people will be infected in the name if research. For your edification on Ebola 101, take a look at the link I am attaching to this post. It seems to me, we may be opening a can of worms here, no one is truly prepared for. Somehow, that is a bit unsettling to me. Your thoughts? I hope both patients survive and the ZMapp Cocktail is successful in healing them. I just question the process a bit. The last thing we need here is an epidemic! Simple stats. Since the 1970s, 1,000 known cases have been documented. This year alone, 1,320 cases exist. More than double the number in less than one year. Disturbing indeed!
