en route home to visit family, I was held up by the TSA in Philadelphia..they searched my bags, took me to the back room and was strip searched by a woman..i was asked why I was wearing a money belt..i explained it is because I am a woman traveling alone and afraid. He then came across all my medications which prescriptions were all written to me in Hebrew. he asked me what they were and I explained they were for my heart after suffering a heart attack years ago. along with heart meds I had antibiotics and sleeping pills. He then asked if I wanted to change my story about the lie I told him about my heart pills when he noticed the sleeping pills. he told me that I did not have prescriptions for the sleeping pills (although the prescription was clearly written in Hebrew on the box with my name) and that he would confiscate them. panicked and hysterical I was left with the option of signing them over to him without a copy or be detained all day in customs. I reluctantly agreed being scared hysterical and intimidated. when he showed me the 3 boxes he was confiscated I said look-these are how medication is dispensed in Israel. not in a bottle with a persons name but in a box. I then realized that on all 3 boxes of my sleeping clearly written was my name in Hebrew. I said look this is my prescription, this is my name and I read it to him in Hebrew and had him compare my written name to mine on my Israeli passport. he disappeared again for another 15 minutes. when he return he screamed at me and said I dont read Hebrew. he gave me my prescriptions back after speaking to a supervisor or whomever, and told me that this was my lucky day. this entire mishap was extremely devastating and a terrible way to begin a holiday . I am my wits end. I want to report this entire incident and dont know where to begin. do I call the Israeli embassy in LA, Israel, the American consulate? what would you do in this situation?
