facts are word tonto mean= dumb in spanish ....many have been against indiginous people being made out to be a mockery ..a fictional character as maskots costumes ect...alot to do with the point that many families have the ndn killed out of em ...we have thousands of people who had no idea they were indiginous just knew they were different ...very connected ..example "mexicans" biggest population of indiginous blooded people who have been forced to make there country become their race and culture ...tonto was potowatomi according to the movie ...yet he was dressed as a indiginous man in the southwest..potowatomi are from michigan...i feel so much is coming to a head with what is to be tolerated and what is not. and when the #1 holloween costume is johnny depps version of tonto and above a costume based on an old tradition painting of a native says the word dumb aka tonto ...well if your wise you will know...andit supports teaching the lack of sacredness of traditional wear..helps support the stereotype of a dumb native...support the genocide and holocaust of indiginous people of this continent...i am sad cause so many ancestors 200 yrs+crossed over thinking maybe one day the children will lead things the right way ..not so much deniying their roots and hiding and being in fear...not so much false conceptions of indiginous cultures ....sometimes i am not sure if its getting worse or better or staying the same in a different way
