fascinating the subject of history. love any history documentary, any period.. thank you youtube ! we didnt have youtube... we only had sister antima... living it out for us in front of the class as she gave us the history of the USA...... sister antima was a great teacher and a great lover of museums and history and music... she took her class regularly to the Chicago Historical Society and to the Library , Chicago Cultural Centre... she gave the 4th graders of santa maria addolorata in 1960, the best gift a child learning at school can have.. a very gifted teacher that loves all her class.. and wants to open the world up to these 9 year olds.. she was a super-decent nun... some at SMA were psycho-nuns, sadists... and some of the priests certainly were licentious but some were holy nuns, old nuns, sweet nuns, mix of women... Franciscans who replaced Scalibrini nuns.. (the old nuns with the old school of santa maria... before 1956... were something else.. these ladies really were poverty, chastity and obedience... they didnt have cars.. and zoomed around and blabbed on street corners on summer nights then dragged down to the lake... with four nuns in the car... sister james mary, the driver and next to her sister Yolanda (she always called her yole - I know cause I was janitors son.. and often they didnt know I was around.. oh my.. .9 year old who certainly got educated.. oh well.. as I always say.. just people... being people ! some were... wonderful teachers. .and some... if we look back were certainly lacking in imagination. to have a great teacher that changed your life... is a blessing from the gods.
