flannery is great summer reading, if your summer is like this one and you are tempted to facile notions of getting along. get along? put three kids sharing the backseat for a 5 block ride to the ice cream shop then talk to me about getting along. people hate because they love their own and sense the threat of others love for theirs. people hate because the assholes telling us to get along are squeezing our livelihoods for their retirements and cottage upgrades, for the payments on their revolving fleet of upgraded vehicles. because idiots imagine electric cars have zero emissions, save for the coal plant or nuclear power that charges their batteries. because it is a mean and petty world of wrongs and mites and one way cries for justice, and freedom, living the best years of our lives with astounding oblivity. if flannery wouldve lived to see her success shed have have undoubtedly doubted our ability to even comprehend the words on the page there in front of us. even so, everything she put down in that way was only possible because that was only a part of it, and none of the whole.
