for my teacher friends.....For all Lafayette Parish active and retired teachers IMPORTANT INSURANCE UPDATE: It seems as though Dr. Cooper is wanting health clinics in EVERY school that will be for teachers as well as students. It appears that these clinics may be funded with OUR PREMIUM DOLLARS!!!! The consultant appears to be pushing Key Benefits Administrators instead of BC/BS. If a switch is made our premium dollars will be going OUT OF STATE. Key Benefits DOES NOT have a presence in Lafayette as BC/BS does. Please read the information below closely--teachers may have to see the school clinic personnel BEFORE being able to go to the doctor. Presently CVS handles our prescription plan. What will happen to that arrangement. There are many, many questions that need to be addressed before an informed decision can be made. We need a strong presence at the meeting Tuesday at 4:45. We need to fill the board room. We would like to get 3 or 4 teachers from each school to commit to attending that meeting. We also need everyone to contact their school board member to insist that we stay with BC/BS. This is being rushed through so very close to our open enrollment period for making changes to our insurance coverage. We do not know enough about this other company. THIS IS SCARY. .
