for passover, I strongly suggest renting or buying the DVD, JESUS OF NAZARETH...an ALL-STAR cast!!! A superb epic, at 6-hours long, however long, its well worth it for you and your family to see! Clint Eastwood said, As an actor in Hollywood, to admit to being a Christian was a fast way to get yourself, blacklisted for any good movie-role. So when this EPIC was announced as being made by a very famous director. Anybody who was an A-List actor, AND...a believer, auditioned...not caring whether the part was big or smal, they wanted to be casted, to the glory of God. The man who had the leading role of Jesus, Robert Powell, stunned the entire crew in Morocco, the first time IN COSTUME, due to looking so much like what we visualize Jesus as looking like; everyone on sett changed their actions the way they spoke their level of morality. And R. Powell, had brought his live in girlfriend from their hm in England...well, he said, he felt so convicted the first time he was in costume and on a 1st century Israel set...that he could NOT do the role and say the Words of Jesus, in hypocrisy...so he married her, right there in Morocco, before he started his scene, at the Jordan, being baptized. Joseph, Marys husband, is the only local actor, w/a leading role from the area in the middle east and is excellent and authentic because he is authentic. And very attractive. You see his real life love, for God; as well as feel what it must have like to be the temporary, earthly father of Jesus but getting up is right to the heavenly Father, when he can no longer teach Jesus anything. Finally, the only unknown actress is Mary, mother of Jesus. That woman at the scene of the Cross... will have you crying sooo hard!!! Feeling convicted of your sins, seeking Gods mercy, feeling led to repent. You will feel the LORD God surrounding you, and get, understand or receive His love. And if your heart is NOT melted & you dont cry, or are barely touched...then its time to do self-evaluation on your heart. It may have grown too hard. She is phenomenal you feel her pain...a mothers broken heart, having lost her Son, she carried 9 months; yet aware, that she gave birth to God in flesh. Oh my Lord, THAT LOVE! Of a mother for her child and of GOD...for each one of us.... you will cry. I pray you carve out 6 hours out of your passover weekend and enjoy this 1977 classic, with your family and,Draw near to God...and He will draw near to you. These actors will have you get a sense of what it was like to have lived during the time in near to, Jesus.
