for those following these updates regarding Rienne Deering, heres the latest from her dad, Michael Deering. as always, im posting all updates to my original blog regarding this matter: Urgent Prayer Request — Deering Family infinityliberty.blogspot/2013/05/urgent-prayer-request-deering-family.html — — — UPDATE from Mike Deering, Oct 14 This afternoon Rienne met with her attorney Kevin, and armed with 3 pages of questions we worked on about the Alford plea deal - she sat down with him and discussed it at length. Based on his answers, and his questions to Rienne, both of them decided to tell the Prosecutor to shove his deal and to move forward with a trial. Once again, Kevin stated that there is always a risk the jury will find her guilty - especially if the judge decides to prohibit Kevin from discussing the unlawful entry by the cops and the attitude they exhibited the moment they arrived. There is that chance - especially given the cronyism that exists in protecting the agents of the state. Kevin is optimistic he will be able to make that fact of their unlawful forced entry and abuse, a cornerstone of his case. Based on the evidence he has and in discussion with Rienne, he thinks theres no way a jury is going to convict her and send her to prison. It is possible the jury on instructions from the judge CAN decide to find her guilty of a lesser crime with a commuted sentence but that is pretty rare. Kevin is impressed enough with Riennes articulation and demeanor that he is going to try something he has never done, and that is to permit the Prosecutor to meet with Rienne and her attorney and talk to her himself in the hope of getting the prosecutor to do something unthinkable and to drop the case against her. That would be the best possible thing to happen for us all. Her arrest would still be on her record for awhile, but she can allegedly get that removed after a year. If the Prosecutor refuses to meet or decides not to drop her case - Riennes case will go to trial and the date for that will be set by the Judge next Monday. This is a long-shot before a trial is set and Riennes fate will be in the hands of God and imperfect men and women. Please pray that this best outcome could be realized. But as of this writing - Rienne has decided NOT to take any plea offer and go to trial on the consent of her attorney who agrees with her decision. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support in this time of trial. ###
