for those of you who live near me and/or have kids at the school, i have asked about traffic calming measures and here is the response!!! I have been asked by the Councillor I inquired to about a petition....pm me or reply to this post Thanks Thank you for your e-mail below regarding the possible provision of traffic calming measures on Ballinaskeagh Road, Banbridge in the vicinity of Bronte Primary School. Unfortunately such measures may only be introduced on roads where the speed limit is restricted to 40mph or less and as such cannot be provided on roads subject to the national speed limit such as Ballinaskeagh Road. The introduction of a speed limit requires that there should be continuous in-depth development along the road and that the character and nature of the area in the vicinity of the road should reflect a reduced speed limit. In order to allow the PSNI Road Policing Unit to enforce speed limits it is recommended that this development be over a length of not less than 600 metres. As this is not the case at Ballinaskeagh Road, a reduction in the current speed limit would not be appropriate at this time. The damaged school sign and associated flashing warning lights have been recovered and are currently with our supplier awaiting repair. I am sorry that I cannot be of more assistance at this time.
