CHEATING IN THE NAME OF DANCE TOURS OVERSEAS ----------------------------------------------------------------- A travel agent and event Organizer in Hyderabad, in the name arranging dance tours to Maritius during Pongal 2014, has duped Classical Professional Kuchipudi and Perini dancers. All these Professional are from in and around Hyderabad. He has collected passport copies and money about Rs.45.000/- to Rs.50,000/-. He had a deal with the Gurus and other artists close to him, ( if they can arrange 5 students or friends irrespective of their experience, they will have free trip) to lure these people, so that he will have more numbers. Recent development was that he has started including the parents also in the tour list, even though they do not have the basic knowledge of classical dance. he want large number of people including in the list. if they do not have dance background. The main criteria for him is money. He said, that he had submitted the details of the artists to the Department of Culture, Government of A.P, to obtain sanction in December 2013, for the tour that was supposed to be in the 2nd week of january 2014. As per the schedule the artists (38 to 40 in numbers), have to perform 3 ballets and Solo programs for 4 days. So, the Artists were practicing rigorously for entire month of December 2013. After the Artists have practised for one month, towards the End of the Month of December 2013, he has said that the tour is postponed as the Grant from Government Department has not been received. in the first week of January 2014, he has sent a mail saying the reasons mentioned above, and went on saying that the tour will be in the 4th week of February 2014, and those people who are not interested to participate, can communicate back to him in a mail with Bank account details, so that he will credit back the amounts taken to the accounts. He did not credit the amounts till date. he has never bothered to even answer the calls. He hasnt informed the Artists who were in the initial list about the updated program schedule and havent confirmed or told them whether they would be in the list of Dancers who will be travelling. Just think of the plight of the poor artists who have paid heavy cash waiting for the overseas trip, and to perform abroad and practised for months, without being treated properly. This is mere Cheating in the name of one of the fine dance forms of Indian Classical Dance.
