from Book Two—a work in progress Captain Cedrics last will and testamant This is the last Will and Testament of me, Captain James Thomas Cedric, of Newbury, Berkshire, England. First, in the event that I shall die in England, I direct my executor hereinafter named Anthony Harwell, of Barclays, London, to cause my body to be interred in the Parish Church of Greenham Lock, in the County of Berkshire aforesaid, near the remains of my deceased father and mother, and in as private a manner as may be. Second, in the event that I shall die at sea, I direct that my body be cremated, and its ashes distributed upon the water. Third, I direct that the ownership my French Prelát (a pistol) be transferred to my nephew, Owen Thomas Harriet. Forth, I direct that the total sum of my holdings, to include all future prize monies, that is to say, all of what is held now, and in the future at Barclay’s of London, be transferred to an account to be established by Anthony Harwell and held at Barclay’s under the name of my nephew, aforesaid, until aforesaid nephew attains the age of fifteen, or demonstrates a reasonable need for funds before that time—a need to be determined by Mr. Lau, Sailing Master aboard HMS Eleanor. Fifth, as of this date—First May, Seventeen Hundred & Ninety-Eight—the total sum of aforesaid account held at Barclays is no less than: £2,371. leehenscheljr
