from Dan Wolgemuth: Hello again . . . It has just come to my attention that the Selection Committee, tasked with choosing one of the five RFPs (Request For Proposals) to recommend to the Town Council, is going to ask for another extension of the decision deadline – September 25th. There’s even further rumor that they will ask the decision to be postponed until January of next year! This is all grandstanding and preposterous. First of all, it is the Town Council who will legally decide which RFP is chosen. The Selection Committee was established to sort through many (dozens - hundreds?) RFPs and then recommend the best or several of the best for the Council’s consideration and approval. However, to date there have been five RFPs presented. It doesn’t take an extraordinary amount of time (or effort) to interview the principles of only five proposals. So now we have a Selection Committee with essentially nothing to do, or at the minimum, doing what the Town Council legally has to do for itself. According to Task force chairman, Larry Ciccarelli, “If anyone has a solution” for the theatre, “If it is economically viable, talk to me. But you have to have a real plan.” Well good folks, as I have outlined here and in editorials and in our Public Forum, The Stratford Stage Group LLC has the only RFP that is thoroughly detailed, financially supported and staffed with top professionals in every theatrical aspect, having letters of intent and agreement displayed within the RFP. At this late date, I’m asking for those who can to please consider attending the Town Council meeting tomorrow evening (August 11th), the public forum begins at 6:45 pm. Having a strong presence at the Council meeting will have a positive effect for our cause and keep the pressure of awareness on our Council members. Thanks for your heart-felt support.
