from a conference call from Colorado DR response today. The following is some of what was heard: Please Do Not Respond unless you are called. Make requests to help through your Bl hat or Regional coordinator. SBC DR is not being welcomed with open arms at all locations - there will always be issues as we are a "religious" organization - some locations are requiring permits for our equipment, trailers, vehicles, shower trailers, etc... be prepared to be challenged and view it as an opportunity to show our good side and prove our value to their communities there are currently four locations housing and deploying volunteers - there are several teams already working and more to show up over the weekend each location has command leadership on-site and we will provide a "big" picture assistance - in other words we will do whatever ask they have experienced snow at some work locations and currently have snow on the ground making it more difficult - take MUD approved shoes/boots the groups are being ask to prioritize work on a personal need level rather than the size of the job/request - kind of like a DR C/R event (elderly, medical, children, access) many road systems are out and getting around is not real straight forward - maps are not easy to find so if you can come up with a Colorado map, bring it local Law is at many locations and you will be required to show ID and your DR Badge to gain access and at some points unless prior approval is in place you will not get in - BE KIND!! NAMB has one box trailer on-site and another to arrive tonight with tools - inventory of this equipment has not been available so it is still in the trailers - being worked out Be prepared to be challenged and work long hours. This is a major event and is actually the first one for many of these locations/local gov. They are responding slowly and in some cases they have "backed" up in allowing our access/help. If you are called, REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR DR ID and dress in your DR shirts to include flying out. You might need to appear SBC DR to get to our location... Keep your ID with you during the flight out incase your luggage gets "misplaced".
