from conversations with Badidi : Some people in this city think that when creatives do their work, its like magic. That because its this God-given thing, we create work like God said Let there be light and there it was. That we dont do mental work, that we dont analyze, that we dont have established methods, that we dont study other peoples work to learn from them, that we dont study on our own if were unschooled in these fields (oh god, so much MORE if the creative they hired were schooled in the field!), that we dont exert any effort. Poof, voila. Its not magic, you idiot. Its WORK. So pay up, especially if it is good work and it serves your purpose. If its bad work, umm, thats another story. And if it was offered free, well, like they say -- beggars cant be too choosy. A well known advertising expert, Ogilvy, once said: Pay people peanuts and youll get monkeys. We appreciate agreements, you know. Agree to a fee, and then pay it. Weve all worked for lower fees depending on the situation but at least honor the god damned agreement.
