Alves covered Big Sleazy (Twisted Creek Ranch/3 G Cattle Co.) for 86.25 points and a fourth place finish in the round. Three-time New York event champion J.B. Mauney leads after the first night of competition with an 88-point effort atop Electric Prune (Twisted Creek Ranch/3 G Cattle Co.). Veteran Billy Robinson sits a half point behind Mauney, after riding Western Way (Twister Creek Ranch/3 G Cattle Co.) for 87.50 points. Earning 87.25 points on Justified (Silver Creek Pro Rodeo), Guilherme Marchi took a third place finish, while Kasey Hayes and Shane Proctor split fifth place with 85.50 points apiece on Let Er Rip (5 Star Bucking Bulls) and Blue Gangster (5 Star Bucking Bulls), respectively.
