My Christian faith tradition taught me the importance of having a tender heart. A tender heart allows us to be present to God’s people who are in the midst of injustice and need mercy. These days, uncertainty and adversity help to rob our tender hearts of compassion and in many cases may strip us of our humanity… Our neighbors become strangers and those in need become invisible. How can we reclaim or refresh our tender hearts? Let us be guided by our memories of the moments of lovingkindness that we have experienced – this love endures forever bringing us new mercies each day. May God bless your tender hearts Ruth T.
