garys blogs The willow through my window It might sound boring to sit in your room all day playing on your play station or watching television, but I’ve never been bored in all the seven years I’ve been here. The reason is – one, I really love my flat and secondly, I really love Orpheus. But the main reason why I haven’t been bored in the seven years I’ve been here is – not to sound big-headed and blowing my own trumpet – I reckon I have the best view in the whole of the Orpheus Centre. And it’s the willow through my window. The willow through my window is quite hard to see in the summer but I know she’s there. In the Autumn and Winter, the surrounding trees all lose their leaves and there she is! – The willow through my window. What is it about the willow that makes it special? Well, oh I will, oh, will oh, tell you – sorry about that I just love playing around with the word “willow”! I will tell you. What makes it special is that while other trees reach up to the sun, the willow doesn’t. It hangs down and isn’t rigid and this relaxes me. I have a reason for you to think about – why the willow faces down and not up. I believe the willow through my window doesn’t reach up to the sun because she once saw the reflection of the moon in the water beneath her and was told by a naughty Troll to give him the moon. And she’s still trying. That’s just one theory but I bet you can’t come up with a better one. So now you know how much I love the view… the view of the willow through my window.
