#getready for severe thunderstorms across south-east State Emergency Service Queensland (QldSES) this afternoon. At 12.55pm, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) advised dangerous thunderstorms with damaging wind and large hailstones were detected on weather radar near Maroochydore, Boonah, Caloundra and between Boonah and Beaudesert. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast and are likely to affect Beaudesert, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Canungra, Mount Tamborine, Tamborine and Jimboomba. They will also affect Marburg, Lowood, northern Lake Wivenhoe, Mount Kilcoy, Ipswich, Crohamhurst, Maleny and Conondale. BoM has forecast significant storm activity for south-east Queensland for the remainder of the day. Residents should prepare now. Residents should bring all loose outdoor items inside and secure items which can’t be moved, such as swing sets and trampolines. They should also move their car undercover and away from trees and when the storm approaches seek shelter preferably indoors and never under trees. Always be aware of fallen trees and powerlines. For storm and flood assistance contact the State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 and in a life-threatening emergency call triple zero (000). For updated information monitor the BoM website at bom.gov.au and for further information on how to prepare for a severe thunderstorm visit disaster.qld.gov.au
