Last January, he was about to leave for the US with his sister Francesca to teach Americans the secrets of the culinary traditions of Bologna, in particular how to make fresh pasta. A few days before leaving for the US, Tommi was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and he was immediately hospitalized at Sant’Orsola Hospital. i There he underwent several cycles of chemotherapy including an experimental treatment. Unfortunately, all these treatments failed. Now at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania there is a new treatment. Dr. Carl June and his team have had outstanding results using CAR-T cell therapy. They have accepted Tommaso into their clinical trial and are willing to do the therapy for no charge but the hospital is requesting a down payment of $600,000. These costs are prohibitive for our family. Time is limited. Tommaso needs to start this therapy soon. Our goal is to raise the $600,000 within the shortest time possible and begin this new innovative therapy. We thank all our special friends who have given us their support over the last months. Fin dai primi giorni di ricovero, Tommaso è stato sottoposto a chemioterapia e in seguito a terapie sperimentali. Sfortunatamente, tutti le terapie seguite non hanno dato alcun risultato. Oggi sono disponibili terapie innovative presso l’Ospedale dell’Università della Pennsylvania a Philadelphia. Qui, il Dottor Carl June guida un team che ha ottenuto ottimi risultati utilizzando una terapia sperimentale chiamata CAR-T cell.
