global warming from vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv 18:30 (6 hours ago) to everyone If you look at the data coming in, you cant be reasonably sure there is a real phenomenon here. In this century, Ebola is more real; being hit by a city-annihilating asteroid or cometary fragment is arguably more real; the eruption of a Tambora-scale volcano is more real; the threat of WW3 is far more real; and the disastrous transformation of human society by artificial intellects is rather real. But over these issues, you dont hear people crying wolf; marching; or demanding vast changes in our economy to circumvent this. Because the folks here are reasoned scientists, technocrats and policy makers... they have not (yet?) welded themselves into a hustle lobby. The problem is that no-one there is arguing that we should alter economies by trillions of dollars to circumvent what we do not understand; and what we we really therefore cannot control. Action NOW is not always the most prudent way out. Doing nothing NOW is sometimes the best option. In this case, I think it is. I always say that there are two hormones that are grossly oversupplied in the human race: Testosterone and adrenalin. They are both conducive to fast aggressive action - with little reflection. vvvvvvv
