gofundme/bpl1u8 So obviously I was supposed to post this last night, but alot of things have been going on, and its been alot to take in within the last 7 days. I operate much better at night. Anyhow, life has an adventurous way of being there when the time is right, and the next steps of my life, both personal and professional, have begun to show their stripes in an incredible new way. Ive been booking shows since 2001 and one of my biggest dreams has always been to own and operate my own all ages venue. Im very proud and fortunate to announce that, starting Monday September 1st, I officially take over the Cobalt Cafe in all aspects of business, booking, and day to day operations. What does this mean? The Cobalt will continue to host all ages shows, poetry nights, and any other forms of live music event, both public and private events. My dream is to bring and modernize Cobalt for live shows in the future, and this is where I feel the necessity of seeking help from our thriving music scene, as well as music fan and friends alike. What I have done is opened up a GoFundMe account to raise money to help out with the refurbishment of the Cobalt. The essential goal is set at $20,000. These funds will go towards the following refurbishments: - Brand new updated PA system (New 32 track digital mixing board / Brand new mains / new subs / new monitors / new stage channel snake) - brand new flooring (includes ripping out current carpet and inputting of new carpeting or hardwood floor - re-inforcing the stage - improved bathrooms (soap / towel / paper dispensers / deco - backline for touring / local artists - new signage / marquee for the front This is NOT a request to help save the Cobalt from closure. Please understand this. This is merely a call for help to renovate and rejuvenate the Cobalt. Im asking a lot. Possibly. I am just one person. I can see huge potential for our scene. Ive given every dollar I possibly can over the last 14 years. This is my greatest dream, but I cannot do it alone. Im inviting every promoter or anyone that wants to book shows or come back and book shows to please contact me. Im looking to bring all genres of music back to the Cobalt Cafe once again. Im hoping everyone can rally together and make this happen. This is beneficial to everyone involved in our music scene. Whether you go to shows or you play shows. I will continue to book shows at Rock City / White Oak / Clash City / 118 West / Malones, but Cobalt is home. For booking, reach me at 818-669-2696 or at john@twoheartsshows. There will be a brand new Cobalt Cafe website in the coming weeks. Stay tuned, stay excited.
