gold-news Luiz Gustavo Bayern Munich midfielder Arsenal target Luiz Gustavo has joined Wolfsburg on a 5-year-contract, reports the Daily Mail. The Gunners were looking to add to their midfield this summer, and had identified the Bayern Munich man as a replacement for Alex Song, who left the Emirates last summer. But Arsene Wenger has missed out on another target after Gustavo signed a 5-year deal with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. The Brazilian has reportedly cost Wolfsburg £17million. It’s more frustration for Wenger, who missed out on Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain earlier in the summer. The Gunners were in talks with Higuain, only for the striker to join Napoli instead. The Gunners have struggled with priority target Luis Suarez, after having two bids for the forward rejected by Liverpool. The Frenchman has only made one signing so far this summer, bringing in 20-year-old Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer froM Auxerre. But whilst the club have been linked with Wayne Rooney and Brazilian starlet Bernard, Wenger, and the fans, have been left frustrated during the transfer window. Arsenal’s lack of transfer activity could hurt them even more, with injuries now hitting the Gunners’ first team squad. Theo Walcott and Bacary Sagna limped off the field during their international matches, whilst their is doubt over the fitness of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla. Arsenal play their first match of the new season against Aston Villa on Sunday. Will the Gunners actually continue to add to their squad this summer? Why are players snubbing a move to the Emirates?
