good evening MSC. midweek storm update. i think , and many others now agree that there is going to be a mid week weather event which is more than likely going to cause some problems . the met office have already issued a yellow warning for most of the uk for wed/thurs. its pretty rare to see something announced so far in advance , so the confidence on this storm is reasonably strong. what we dont have is the exact timing and just how bad things could possibly be. i looking at so many different models on this feature , some say the track will be over the far north of Scotland , others suggest a central track over the Scottish boarder. its hard to pin down and im personally developing my own isobars across my already wrinkled brow. the central pressure of this system that is born on the eastern seaboard and slung across the Atlantic as fast as a Wag would leave poundland, could be as low as 938mb. its looking likely to be around 950mb. if that goes over your head , here is food for thought, the great storm of 1987 had a central pressure of 952mb. shed loads of trees were lost, but in their defence they did still have the leaves on. if everything holds on the charts we could see some very damaging winds across the uk , and to be honest i would be conservative if i said gusts of 65mph. its more likely ( based on current data) to see gusts of 75-90mph as the system sweeps across to the east coast . we also have an issue with precipitation, or as i say wet stuff. 60mm of rain could fall in a very short time, but there is also a chance this could turn to snow . blizzard conditions could be a problem for a short amount of time, but its highly unlikely there will be any vast accumulations. im more concerned about localised flooding. we are all here , watching the charts and it is giving us rise for concern. we will bring you the updates on these ever changing charts as we see them. the MSC is not a forecasting page , but a weather reporting and research thingy ma jiggy. so please understand that we are just relaying what we do personally , we are just sharing our passion. i have got my candles ready , i have my camping stove out. if it all ends up being a little parp of air , well i can stick them back in the cupboard that i shove stuff in and no harm done. i suggest you do the same. as we move towards the midweek mark , we will have a far more solid idea as to what is coming our way. until then , these are my thoughts . oh and its a bit blowy too tomorrow , oops i forgot that ! vicky
