The rain and mountain snow in the West will slide a little farther south and east with rain from central California eastward into northern Utah and Wyoming. More than 2 inches of rain is possible this weekend in northern California. Showers are also expected as a cold front advances east from Arkansas into the eastern Great Lakes and the interior Northeast. There is the possiblity of some icing in northern Arkansas, southern Missouri and southern Illinois from Sunday night into Monday morning. Maine may also see a few rain and snow showers. Ahead of this system temperatures will be above average, with highs in the 50s as far north as Detroit and Buffalo, and 60s and 70s for the South. However, cold temperatures will sweep in behind this system with highs up to 30 degrees below average for parts of the Northern Plains. The temperature change will be noticeable, as high temperatures will drop 20 to 30 degrees from Saturday to Sunday in parts of the Plains and Upper Midwest, with a few locations dropping up to 40 degrees. Back-To-Work/Cyber Monday Mondays Forecast Enlarge Mondays Forecast By Monday, moisture associated with a new low pressure system spawning well off the coast of California will allow more rain and snow to develop from northern California and Oregon east into the Rocky Mountains. Meanwhile, a cold front pushing southeast will bring mostly rain from Pittsburgh southwest to Austin, Texas. Temperatures ahead of the front will remain mild with highs in the 50s to the 60s. Towards the back edge of the front, where freezing air is able to catch up with the eastward moving moisture, a wintry mix (including sleet and freezing rain) may develop from Fayettville, Arkansas northeast into Evansville, Indiana and southwestern Pennsylvania. - Snowfall forecast: Map showing forecast snowfall totals over the next 48 hours. - Latest winter radar: See where any snow, freezing rain or sleet is falling now. - Wheres the cold: Is cold air building in Canada or Alaska? - Winter storm names: The entire list of names this season and the science behind how we name them. Snow for the Pacific Northwest/Sierra Nevada/Northern Rockies A series of systems will move from the Pacific across the Northwest and continue to bring lots of precipitation to the region. A cold front has dropped south out of British Columbia and is bringing enough cold air to Washington and Oregon to drive snow levels down to lowland areas. Seattle saw a bit of snow Saturday (generally under 1) but areas to the north along the Puget Sound picked up 2 to 3 inches. For the mountains however there will be a lot of snow, with as much as 2 feet (total) in parts of the Cascades through the Inter-Mountain West. This system will continue to drive southward and bring significant snowfall to the Sierra through Saturday. The first wave is moving in now and a second wave Sunday. Snow levels will be around 6,000 ft. which will bring the mountains passes such as I-80 through Truckee into play. A more significant snow event is likely in the Tuesday time frame as another surge of moisture comes in off the Pacific. However snow levels will be quite high in this event, probably above pass levels. Finally, a potent arctic cold front is set to plunge into the northern Rockies (especially Montana). Temperatures will fall over 40 degrees at some locations and wind chills will dive well below zero Saturday night (with dangerous wind chills). Moisture will combine with the bitter cold to produce widespread snowfall. Parts of northwest Montana could see an additional 6 to 12 inches of snow (locally higher) especially around Glacier National Park. Snow (generally 4 to 8 inches) will also fall in the mountains of Idaho and snow will sink down into Wyoming. Light Wintry Mix From Northern Arkansas through Southern Missouri To Southern Indiana Sunday Night/Monday Moisture streaming northward from the Gulf of Mexico will ride along a cold front and could produce a brief period of icing from northern Arkansas through southern Missouri to parts of southern Illinois and Indiana Sunday night into the Monday morning rush hour. This is a subtle event but could produce some significant impacts on Monday morning travel for those coming back from a long weekend. Freezing drizzle and light freezing rain could create travel problems (especially on bridges and overpasses). Because of the subtle nature of this event, it will need to be monitored closely as the forecast data is updated. Light Wintry Mix Possible for parts of West Virginia Western Virginia and possibly parts of western North Carolina Mon Night to Tuesday As a strong area of high pressure (1047 mb) will move along the St. Lawrence Valley late Monday night and Tuesday. This will result in a wedge of cold air at the surface that will spill down the eastern side of the Appalachians Monday night and Tuesday. Some moisture will interact with the cold air resulting in a wintry mix of precipitation from the western Virginia/West Virginia area on southward (perhaps into parts of western North Carolina. Some of this precipitation could fall as freezing drizzle or light freezing rain. The result will be patches of ice on the roadways (especally bridges and overpasses). light rain diffrent parts of those area parts of canada and usa and mexcio 30-40% chance of light 1-3 inches of light rain heavy rain for western oregon state freso california state southern texas state 60-80% heavy rain 3-12 inches of rain flooding possbilty for those area winter snow storm warning and watching for southern alaska state southern yukon canada northern bc canada 6-12 inches of snow blowing and drifting snow visibilty be at 0 very dangerous drving and snow pack and whiteout and icy roads condition bizzard warning for sask canada northern quebec canada manitboa canada 3-6 inches of snow blowing and drifting snow visibilty be at 0 very dangerous drving and snow pack and whiteout and icy roads condition snowfall for higher mountain or flatland area for alaska state all way nu canada parts of oregon california northern nevada utah colorado wy state western nebraska state sd state 4 great lake area northen michiga northern ontario canada manie state marinetime canada 3-12 inches of snow blowing and drifting snow visibilty be at 0 very dangerous drving snow pack whiteout icy roads condition lake effect snow for northern michigan state soo ste marie michigan and soo ste marie ontario canada superior east ontario canada 3-6 inches of snow blowing and drifting snow visibilty be at 0 very dangerous drving and snow pack and whiteout and icy roads condition frezzing rain for iowa northern michigan state northern ontario canada northern quebec canada 1-3 inches of frezzing rain very dangerous drving and icy roads condition high wind warning for alaska state all way northern nwt canada western canada and minnsota state uppewr mid western state all way california state all way texas state oklanhoma nebraska state iowa missouri arkansas southern state tn state ky state west vigina 4 great lake area wisconsin il state indania ohio michigan state ontario canada pa state ny state upper eastern state quebec and eastern canada winds up to at 18 or 37 mph winds windchill warning for alaska state allway nu canada western canada minnsota state nd and sd state montana state wy state colorado nebraska state iowa state western wisconsin state fort france and thunder bay ontario canada windchill be at -25 or 0 very cold windchill weather for yall flood warning for seattle washington state gary indania state frost warning for yukon canada nwt canada nu canada western canada all way fort france and thunder bay ontario canada minnsota state sd and nd state montana wy state colorado nebraska iowa western wisconsin state black road icy condition and very dangerous drving on icy bridge condition foggy or ice foggy for western state billings montana state all way down soouthern state sc state 4 great lake area northern il state wisconsin state visibilty be at 0-2 miles very dangerous drving and thick foggy or ice foggy condition right till by morning lift off by afternoon be caution keep eyes on it yall tune weather channel weather network wx cb radio scanner weathe radio cell phone or desktop laptop tablet weather for yall be safe drive safe god bless yall bigger both thumbs up drivers everybody else here :) 10-4
