gus was x-rayed and found to have spondylitis, a degenerative spinal condition. there is no soft tissue between some of his vertebrae, which causes his leg trembling and for him to periodically lose control of his bowels. the vet says he is doing shockingly well considering this condition. they do not recommend surgery for a dog this old, but we have high hopes for medicine is starting on today. one of the saddest parts of this is that his long walking days are now behind him; the doctor suggests short walks will be more tolerable for him. grateful for our good doctors and hoping the medicine will soon bring him some relief.
