h1. Gifts *GIFTS* Have been common from the earliest times as tokens of affection, honor, or respect. Kings made gifts of garments to those they wished to honor, +[[1.45.22|Ge 45:22]]+, +[[1.45.23|23]]+ +[[9.18.4|1Sa 18:4]]+; and of treasures to other princes, out of esteem or of fear, +[[12.16.8|2Ki 16:8]]+; +[[12.18.14|18:14]]+; +[[14.9.9|2Ch 9:9]]+, +[[14.9.12|12]]+. Conquerors scattered gifts from their triumphal cars, and special privileges in token of generous joy, +[[19.68.18|Ps 68:18]]+ +[[44.1.2|Ac 1:2]]+, +[[44.1.4|4]]+.
