has anyone else experienced a severe hip flexor strain? my right hip flexor rapidly deteriorated over the last 10 miles of a 40 mile race the first weekend in february. i have been working with a chiropractor who does ART (active release) and a PT for soft tissue work and rehab exercises (focusing on a left shoulder that has been an orthopedic nightmare, a weak core, zero thoracic spine mobility, and non-existent glute activation). my runs have slowly increased to 25-30 miles/week of pain free running, however, yesterday, a hilly 7 mile run on paved/dirt country roads has sent me right back to pain levels equal to two weeks out from my 40 miler. initial concern had been for a labrum tear, however, improved range of motion and other positive responses to treatment have suggested otherwise. that said, i am starting to lose my otherwise sunny disposition and patience now that i am 11 weeks out. not sure if i am looking for advice or empathy (maybe both) :-)
