He produced most of their records and played on many of them. He also had dozens of hits with other artists including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Ella Fitzgerald, America, Kenny Rogers and Elton John. He has a total of 30 #1 singles and 19 #1 albums. Wow! Second is singer-songwriter-musician John Paul Jones (1946) best known as the bassist and keyboardist with Led Zeppelin. John played with several groups and was a session musician on scores of hits before, during and after joining LZ. Zeps Led Zeppelin IV is the 3rd best selling album of all time and they have sold more than 300 million albums. Finally, singer-songwriter-musician Stephen Stills (1945) best known as a founding member of Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and as a solo artist. With Springfield he wrote their hit, For What Its Worth and on his own had a hit with Love The One Youre With.
