having read Acts13:1-12....From Antioch, chosen by the Spirit, affirmed by the others, Barnabas and Saul (and John Mark) set out..... On Cyprus, they encounter a false prophet Bar-Jesus, an attendant to the local proconsul and therefore with potential political influence. Though the man would seek to have his own way, he is shown for what he truly is, false prophet and sorcerer...and by the power of the Spirit, through Saul, reduced to helpless blindness...with the proconsul ultimately affirming where the one and only true power lay.. Any other so called source of power without the presence of the Spirit will not make it, nothing in fact, without the Spirit will make it.....and there have been so many... Such has it been then, there will be powerful, even resonant, but ultimately self serving challenges to faith....or....there will be the still small voice who directs us to be still.....and to know....To know....to know that the difference between powerful but hollow rhetoric.....and quite simply.....THE WORD.....amen
