healingtouchpt Written by: Dr. J. Peruvingal P.T, D.P.T A leader must be a visionary It is impossible to head a business without being a visionary. Can anyone get where they want without knowing where they want to go? A visionary knows where business should go then implements them (he/she use assistance of good manager for it). “You generally pick a direction, then implements like crazy” Jack welsh of General Electric. It is impossible to get to your destination without proper directions and destination, it’s joke if you get in the car and say “I don’t know where I am going but let’s see where the road will take me” and expect to get somewhere exciting. Know exactly what your business objective is and have plans in place. Change/revise plans according to market conditions. If a new plan came up and it is clearly a better choice to achieve your aim then adapt/modify your current pans. Don’t be rigid, be agile and be willing to adapt to what is working in the marketplace. Yes it is copying, that’s exactly what the Japanese did. They looked around to see what is working in American market and just did that, they didn’t say “well we didn’t come up with it therefore we cannot use it”. Let other’s do the hard work of inventing it- modify/adapt/perfect it and most importantly dominate the marketplace so it wouldn’t matter who invented it. A good manager can implement most of the things you come up with if you lack the ability to implement most of the things but you must come up with different ideas to take the business to next level. Leader must know where the business is headed towards and a manager should make sure the path’s that has been identified and laid out has been taken towards the ultimate goal. A leader hates status quo with a passion, and is constantly looking for ways of doing things better. They have a passion for innovation and embraces change. They are always questioning why things are done in a particular way and are always on the lookout for an efficient way for things to be done. It’s not unusual the leader to push his/her workers to get the maximum output. A good manager can be an excellent complement to the leader. The leader lays out the dream but the manager makes it the reality. A leader can visualize all he/she wants but it is useless unless it is brought into reality similarly it is difficult for the manager to come up with a vision. If he/she can then they won’t be a manager. If a manager tries to be leader because he/she is so good at being the manger then they will ultimately fail or vice versa. The leader usually lays out the vision for the business and the ways to achieve the target but ultimately it is the manager that travels the treacherous road with his/her workers. You see how invaluable it is for the leader to have a good manager. A good leader is well aware of the opportunities, his/her business strengths, weakness as well as the competitions. He/she should take advantage of every possible opportunity if it presents itself in the marketplace. In order to compete and win in the marketplace, you must win the hearts and mind of your unit. Unit members have to trust you on your ability to lead them to higher success for maximum output on their part. As the leader you would need maximum output from your team members for you to compete in the marketplace. Pick an area that is very vital to the business that you are passionate about, being passionate is important for you to excel in it. Demonstrate it to the unit that you are really good at it if preferably it is something only you can do. With a solid and unified army behind you, like an army you can win any war you set out to if the leader stays with his/her troops in the front line. It is not difficult if you can clearly demonstrate the tactics and strategies. Clearly communicate, have an open culture for the team members to express themselves to make each member stronger. A leader is only strong when he/she has a strong and unified team otherwise everyone will be pulling in different directions and with that it is impossible to compete in the marketplace. ************************************************ Dont be selfish, share it! visit healingtouchservices
