healthcare coverage and such... Many of you out there are pointing out that the canceled healthcare packages are inferior, or illegal packages that arent allowed under the rules of the ACA.. now, before we get into an esoteric discussion on the merits of all these programs, lets just consider the average family and how they budgeted for their healthcare.. When I had a family, I would buy the best possible package I could AFFORD. I added up my expenses, such as rent, power, car payments and other stuff... and then looked at how much cash I had left. I then weighed what the chances are of anyone in my family getting sick or having an unforeseen accident. I tried to get the most coverage for the money I had.. I think that can probably be said for the vast majority of the people out there. They have gone out and bought the best possible healthcare package that their financial resources would allow them. Hundreds of thousands of people have had their present policies canceled and they were given the opportunity to buy policies through the exchanges. Now, here is the problem. Most of the people who had medical care insurance, were right on the edge of their financial resources to begin with. And, if you replace their policies with one that either costs more, or has a higher deductible, how can this be beneficial? It is like my policy doesnt have pregnancy coverage. Well, I am 58, male and have no plans on kids at this time, yet they would force me to upgrade my coverage (and hence pay for it) because this is not within federal guidelines.. When people are down to their last dollars every month, and now you tell them that they are going to spend a larger percentage of that little pile that is left at the end of the month, that leaves nothing left at the end of the month folks.. nothing.. I am going to be told that many are going to get subsidies that will help defray the costs.. 90% of the people are still going to see an increase.. And, those subsidies is not magic money that is coming from nowhere, that is tax revenue collected from others, who are picking up the tab. It still is getting paid for by American TaxPayers. Plus, the whole scheme collapses if about 15% of the younger people decided to just pay the fine instead of picking up insurance. Heck, most wont get sick, and they know it..and, they are gambling on that in order to get a house, finance a business or pay their college bills. Its not important until they get older or they are sick. The whole system is rife with problems. It needs to be overturned and returned to where it was..
