heavenly Father, have mercy on my fellow Pastors who find themselves in this dark night of the soul, bereft of comfort, and driven ever lower by their inability to press through to the hope they have in Christ. I know what this feels like, but thank You that you did not leave me in my season of despair and hopelessness. Pastors are not made of stone. We are but flesh. Yeas we have the mighty Spirit of God dwelling in us; Yes we have the word of God to multiply faith in us; yes, we have the love of God through Christ Jesus our Lord to encourage and reassure us. But for a multitude of reasons, some times the heart gets carved from us and we find ourselves so tired, so emotionally drained, feeling so alone, ashamed, and abandoned, many times due to past abuses, that we derive no help from the word, and cannot hear Your spirit calling out to us. Have mercy oh Holy Christ of God, for our weakness and frailty. Forgive us of failing You, the fountain of living water. Forgive us for listening to the lies of the father of lies, and believing his story about us more than the story You have told us about ourselves. For Robert and his family, Christi Eleison, Kyrie Eleison. And have mercy on us, his brothers and colleagues who remain to pastor Your flock in these darkest of times as the enemy arrays an all out attack upon our minds, our purity, our thoughts, and our faith.
