hello, Im back at last, but, I have lots of good news: finally, I have found the time to begin loading up the rest of the drone fx tracks, which eventually will take that particular eternal album from its initial two tracks, up to a much more substantial seven. weve been listening to the seven tracks for the last few days, and they work very well together, drone fx produces very consistent and very convincing ambient music, it seems almost as if you cant make anything but ambient music with it - but I have managed to create one fairly active track in amongst all of the beautiful ambient ones :-) the tc-11 mixing has stalled, and gone no further, as I am faced with having to discard at least two of the tracks because the pops and clicks in them are just too severe, and adobe audition is unable to remove them without damaging the fabric of the song itself - so its unfixable. once I get past that, I hope to return to mixing the rest of the session, although the entire session is damaged, so I may have to discard even more tracks - I really hope not. however - five tracks are complete: halogen, response to pat, resonant choir and careful with that arp, eugene versions I and II. the first two in particular are spectacular examples of real music being generated using just the fingers and hand, halogen is a quick, bright, arpeggiator based piece, while response to pat is a sophisticated sound thats sort of like ambient guitars - really lovely. but finally - the best news of all - over the past few days, Ive been busy installing (over two days time) and latterly, trialling sounds, for the newest addition to the studio: komplete 9 ultimate - and I can tell you, this suite of 65 instruments, is going to change pureambient and it is going to absolutely transform my music, it will open up musically possibilities that until now, I could only dream of - it really is the ultimate tool for the working (studio) musician. I spent my first session (once the endless installing and updating FINALLY came to an end!) just working with several of the nine unique synthesizers that are just a tiny part of komplete, and I was absolutely blown away by the quality and the sound - ground-breaking sounds, amazing quality - unbelievable creativity in sound generation. Today, I worked with kontact which is used for sample performances - and that was an eye-opening experience, everything from grand and upright pianos, to animated strings, to playing a duet with myself on a melodic west african instrument - and then, playing with the george duke soul module...and then, a long session on the guitar with guitar rig 5 - so its been a long day with an enormous amount of new sounds... I did record a few test pieces, both last night and this morning, and again this afternoon, but nothing really meant for release - I am just learning, and that process will go on for some time - and I will begin to build new pieces which I would hope would start to emerge over the next few weeks... I feel that my sonic arsenal is now komplete ... (groan) - I realise that was a terrible pun, very punny, but I couldnt resist. on a serious note, this is a powerful, innovative and overwhelmingly massive set of instruments and sounds, with nearly limitless, creative musical possibility. wish me luck - I am going to need it :-)
