hello everyone! im excited to see so many familiar faces joining me here. i wanted to just share a few ideas that i think we can make happen at the square. here is an example from my imaginary scenario of how it could work: every saturday at 5 bring an instrument and jam. and people can come to play, watch and/or dance. thats just one idea. another is bring art supplies and make art together, another is poetry readings. if anyone can juggle or do poi that would be another great thing. the idea is to bring attention to downtown and the fountain is so visible to traffic passing by. people will see things happening and say to a friend hey did you see there was a guy juggling at the fountain and people were standing around watching or there were people playing music and there was dancing...at the fountain!! word will get around that there are regular gatherings going on and will show up. well have little fliers that have a schedule on them to pass out to people. it seems like there is enough creative energy in our community to pull this off. my ideas list: music jams and dancing performance art/monologues/ impromptu or rehearsed plays poetry readings/slams make art together juggling/poi/stilt-walking face painting/body art portable library picnics/socializing meetings art instruction/demontration drawing from live model im imagining people coming together regularly. people drop by and they go grab a korean taco and sit together and do things. let the hot dog vendor guy know our schedule so he can be there too. there are lots of businesses that can benefit. one thing wed have to be real clear about is no busking, no tip system or selling of things. its just about gathering. creating something visible, an energy and enthusiasm about downtown and the arts. this page will change as we have better pictures and info to add, its just a place holder for now. somewhere to throw the ideas. who wants to play??
